The gals of Danger*Cakes have been called many things.
Defying clear cut genre labels, their music has been dubbed “Swing-Punk”, “Neo-Soul”, and even “Psycho-Jazz”. Whatever you want to call them, one thing is clear: Danger*Cakes is here to kick some serious brass! Fusing elements of rockabilly, soul, jazz and blues, the band aims to drop kick fans back into the early days of Rock ‘N’ Roll! With only one year under their belt, the all-female big band has quickly become the hottest unsigned band in Texas!
Describing themselves as a premier “Rock n’ Roll Orchestra,” the ladies of Danger*Cakes are already starting to make waves across blogs and music publications committed to identifying the best of the best in the Rockabilly and underground music scene today. The band is the brain child of former Punk Blues Review belter, Jamie Bahr, who writes, sings and plays upright bass for the group. Jamie has surrounded herself with an eclectic group of multi-talented women including Austin punk favorites, Virginia Lopez (Something Called Nothing) on drums and Jeremie Fletcher (A Corpse Vanishes) on guitar. Drew Hays adds some spice on the Baritone Mandolin. The luscious brass section, consisting of Tina Marie Bartolucci on Sax, Karen Kirk on Trumpet and Kathryn Fries on Tuba, is the icing on the cake. These darlings of danger know just how to tantalize your auricle fancy and leave you begging for more.
